ifconfig

The ifconfig command is installed on most os distro, being used as follows:

sudo ifconfig eth0 169.254.236.58

Note that the config info is temperorily effective, it’s dropped everytime the system reboots. Yet it can be put in a bash script for easy reconfigure.

ip

The ip command’s usage is a little bit weird, at least for me, to use for the 1st time.

There’s still something I have not figured out.

Tip

The arp utility command can help us to recognize device’s IP easily.
